Historic Wimbledon Modernist Home Donated to National Trust

22 Parkside, a striking example of British modernism located beside Wimbledon Common, is set to become part of the National Trust's portfolio, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

Designed by celebrated architect Richard Rogers between 1968 and 1970 for his parents, Nino and Dada Rogers, this iconic residence, also known as the Rogers House, showcases a glass-and-steel exterior and innovative Hi-Tech architecture. The home features a central courtyard surrounded by two single-storey pavilions, maximizing natural light and embodying Rogers' vision of flexible living.

To mark this significant donation by the Rogers family through the Richard Rogers Charitable Settlement, Ben Rogers, Richard's son, expressed the family's desire to protect and share this remarkable structure, stating, "we wanted to ensure that this remarkable house would be protected, cared for and shared with future generations." As part of the National Trust’s collection of 20th-century heritage, 22 Parkside will open its doors to the public starting September 12, coinciding with Open House London.
