Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Palestinian Territories as Aid Faces Obstacles

As the humanitarian crisis intensifies, Athena Rayburn, the executive director of the Association of International Development Agencies, reveals the dire situation faced by Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. In a recent discussion, she highlighted the severe challenges that over two million residents in Gaza endure daily.

Rayburn describes the grim reality in Gaza, where Palestinians are confined to approximately 104 square kilometers (40 square miles) amid ongoing bombardments from Israeli forces. The scarcity of essential resources such as clean water, food, electricity, and medical supplies is exacerbated by strict limitations on humanitarian assistance imposed by Israel. The conditions are so dire that Rayburn characterizes life there as 'untenable and catastrophic.'

Despite the U.S.-backed Board of Peace claiming advancements in the peace process, Rayburn's insights underscore a stark contrast between political narratives and the on-ground reality, revealing a humanitarian landscape that continues to deteriorate.
