India Boosts Aid to Flood-Stricken Nepal with Medical Supplies and Rescue Team

In a continued effort to assist Nepal following devastating flash floods, India has dispatched its fifth batch of humanitarian aid. This latest delivery, announced on September 2, 2026, includes an 11-member rescue team equipped with specialized tools and over five tonnes of essential medications, according to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
As the disaster's toll mounts, the death count in Nepal has tragically reached 1,127, with rescuers tirelessly searching for approximately 4,858 individuals still unaccounted for. Recent recoveries include 348 bodies from Chitwan and significant numbers from other affected regions such as Nawalparasi East and West, Gorkha, and Dhading.
To date, Indian aid efforts have sent more than 68 tonnes of relief supplies, along with medical professionals and technical teams to support search and rescue operations. This assistance commenced swiftly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's conversation with Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah on August 26, the day the floods struck.
