India Offers Diplomatic Support to Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

In a significant meeting held in Kyiv, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended India’s willingness to assist in resolving the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. His discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha came on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent call for an end to the war during a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Jaishankar expressed concern over the impact of violence in the Black Sea, particularly on developing nations facing energy security issues and food shortages. He stated, “Every passing day of conflict only means more deaths and more destruction,” emphasizing India's readiness to help facilitate dialogue and negotiations.
Addressing the safety of Indian seafarers amid rising tensions, Jaishankar highlighted the casualties among those working on commercial vessels in the region. He noted that the ongoing conflict has dire implications for nations in the Global South, stressing the need for a diplomatic resolution to restore stability and security.
