Iran Signals Willingness for Dialogue with US Amid Tensions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed a readiness to return to negotiations with the United States, contingent on Washington honoring commitments from a June interim deal. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran would reciprocate immediately if the US adheres to the Memorandum of Understanding.
This statement follows recent escalations in the US-Iran conflict, including US strikes on Larak Island and Iranian attacks on US bases in Jordan. Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's support for free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil transit route, provided the US fulfills its obligations.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed this sentiment, stressing that compliance from the US could recalibrate relations and lead to a more peaceful resolution.
