British National Rescued in Nepal Amid Ongoing Flood Crisis

A British man has been rescued nearly a week after catastrophic floods ravaged Nepal, claiming over 1,000 lives. The rescue operation, which took place on Tuesday, also saved 118 Nepali citizens, as authorities continue their efforts to reach those trapped in devastated areas.
An army spokesperson confirmed the rescue, noting that among the 119 individuals saved were 44 females and 74 males. The Nepali Army reported that their operations have successfully rescued a total of 3,891 people, including 273 foreigners, using air resources to access hard-hit regions.
The floods, triggered by a glacier collapse on August 26, have left a staggering 4,000 individuals unaccounted for, with 639 trapped in hydropower stations. The United Nations Development Programme estimates that 2.2 million tons of debris now clutter the landscape, complicating recovery efforts.
As rescue operations persist, Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced the restoration of some power and communication lines. A UK rapid deployment team has also arrived to assist British nationals and their families, part of a broader response that includes £5 million in humanitarian aid.
