KP Chief Minister Vows to Overcome Obstacles for Karachi Rally

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday, reaffirming his commitment to host a rally in Karachi despite alleged efforts to hinder his convoy's progress. The PTI leader, who is spearheading a campaign to mobilize support for the party’s upcoming protest on September 27, expressed his resolve to overcome the challenges faced along the way.

Accompanied by PTI’s provincial President Junaid Akbar, Afridi has been traversing Sindh for five days, rallying support for the release and medical care of the party’s founder, Imran Khan. Upon reaching Hyderabad, he communicated with supporters, urging them to join the nationwide demonstrations. He also emphasized that the obstacles, such as blocked roads and barricades, would not deter their efforts to gather in Karachi.

Police Restrictions on Public Gatherings

As Afridi pushes forward with his plans, the Karachi District East police issued a statement barring any public gatherings around Mazar-i-Quaid, the site of the planned PTI rally. Authorities warned that legal action would be taken against any unauthorized assemblies. In response to the heightened security concerns, police have reinforced their presence around the area, closing various routes to ensure safety.

PTI Responds to Alleged Political Suppression

In light of the restrictions, the PTI condemned the actions taken against their convoy and highlighted the arrest of several party workers across Sindh. The party accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of hypocrisy, citing the contrast between Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's warm social media welcome to Afridi and the government’s physical barriers against the PTI’s movement. The PTI leadership called for an end to these obstructions and demanded the release of all detained workers, asserting the right to political expression.
