According to Macklemore, Kraft and other NFL owners exerted pressure on Sheeran, leading to his exit from the lineup.

Macklemore detailed the situation in a lengthy statement, asserting that Kraft, who reportedly has little interest in the music scene, contacted Sheeran directly to dictate who could open for him. The ultimatum reportedly given was stark: if Macklemore remained on the tour, Sheeran would lose access to perform at certain venues.

This controversy hits home particularly hard for Macklemore, as he was scheduled to perform at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, owned by Kraft, on September 25 and 26. Following the fallout, Sheeran will now take the stage solo at the venue.
