Mariska Hargitay Celebrates Emmy Wins Ahead of Hosting Duties

Mariska Hargitay is stepping into her role as Emmy host with a triumphant spirit, having secured two awards at the Creative Arts Emmys for her documentary, My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay. The ceremony took place just days before she is set to host the Primetime Emmys on September 14.

Hargitay's latest accolades include wins for directing a documentary/nonfiction program and for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special, bringing her total number of Emmy wins to three. Reflecting on this significant achievement, she expressed her joy, stating, "It feels extraordinarily new and it’s deeply meaningful for me to have gone into a completely different arena, and to be recognized like this is really beyond my wildest dreams." Her previous Emmy win was for best actress in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2006.

As she prepares for the Emmys, Hargitay embraces a year full of new experiences, guided by her philosophy of saying “yes” to opportunities. She recalled her surprise at being invited to host the Emmys, saying it felt like a joke at first, but she ultimately decided, “Why not?” In a light-hearted admission, she commented on the demanding nature of her upcoming hosting gig, noting that NBC had downplayed the rehearsal schedule. Nevertheless, she eagerly anticipates collaborating with the writing team from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, declaring, “I can’t believe at this place in my life — my third act is starting and it’s pretty awesome.”
