Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday' Rakes in $50 Million in Pre-Sales as Fans Embrace New Infinity Vision Concept

By Editor • September 9, 2026 • 1 min read

Disney's upcoming blockbuster, 'Avengers: Doomsday,' is off to a spectacular start, amassing an impressive $50 million in domestic pre-sales just three months ahead of its release. This figure not only eclipses the pre-sales of 'The Odyssey' at $40 million but also puts 'Doomsday' in close proximity to the record set by 'Avengers: Endgame,' which reached $60 million.

At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, Disney's CFO Hugh Johnston revealed that a remarkable 70% of these pre-sales, amounting to $35 million, were for tickets branded under the company's new 'Infinity Vision' label. This unusual designation appears to be resonating with fans, although it's unclear if buyers are specifically choosing Infinity Vision over traditional formats.

Understanding Infinity Vision

Interestingly, Infinity Vision is not a new cinematic format like IMAX; rather, it serves as a certification from Disney. The criteria for this label include a minimum screen width of 45 feet and advanced sound systems like Dolby Atmos. This standard is relatively modest compared to IMAX's requirements, which call for screens of at least 60 feet.

Future Implications for Disney and Cinemas

Currently, only 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Endgame: The Encore' are being marketed under the Infinity Vision banner. While Disney has indicated a serious commitment to this initiative, with over 7,500 applications from theaters globally seeking certification, it's uncertain if other studios will adopt such branding for their films. The excitement surrounding 'Doomsday' is palpable, as evidenced by its trailer becoming the most viewed in Disney's history and fans logging an extra 420 million hours watching Marvel content on Disney+.
