Meta Adjusts AI Following Controversial Personal Inquiry

Meta has announced it will revise the prompts used by its AI chatbot after a viral incident raised concerns over privacy and personal questions. The decision comes in response to a video shared by Instagram user Kalie Robins, which showcased the AI's inappropriate suggestion regarding her children.
In a statement provided to The Verge, Meta spokesperson Dina El-Kassaby acknowledged the company's misstep, stating, "the feature never should have prompted the individual with questions like that." The AI had suggested, "Who is the child passenger?" beneath a video that included Robins and her young daughter, prompting backlash over the invasive nature of the inquiry.
As a result of this incident, Meta is committed to ensuring that its AI tools respect user privacy and do not delve into personal topics that could make users uncomfortable.
