In an unusual turn of events, anti-immigration demonstrators in Portsmouth, England, mistakenly protested outside a hotel housing the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team, believing them to be migrants. The incident unfolded on the evening of September 8, 2026, just two days after similar protests occurred nearby.
The protesters were drawn to the Marriott Hotel in the suburb of Cosham after reports surfaced about a coach carrying young Asian men. This led to a gathering of approximately 30 individuals outside the venue, where tensions quickly escalated.
Local authorities, including Hampshire Police, responded by dispersing the crowd after clarifying that the young men were indeed members of the cricket team, not asylum seekers.
