New Series 'School of the Americas' Brings Together Renowned Filmmakers and Actors

In an exciting development for the Latin American film industry, the upcoming series 'School of the Americas' has enlisted the talents of director Abner Benaim, alongside acclaimed Chilean actors Daniela Vega and Alfredo Castro. This project, which is rooted in historical events, has been selected for the prestigious Co-Production and Financing Forum at Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid, running from September 29 to October 2.

The narrative of 'School of the Americas' delves into the aftermath of the 1983 El Jazmín massacre, beginning with a chilling exhumation that reveals a graduation photo of commandos linked to the infamous U.S. Army School of the Americas. The series follows human rights investigator Inés Vega as she connects the dots between the past and present, uncovering the dark legacy of the military training that shaped a generation of Latin American officers.

Benaim, known for his impactful films and three-time Oscar representative for Panama, joins forces with co-director Oscar Godoy, a seasoned collaborator of Pablo Larraín. With their shared commitment to exploring significant themes, the duo aims to shed light on the curriculum that perpetuated cycles of violence rather than merely depicting the individuals involved.
