Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise Ahead of Market Adjustments

By Editor • September 2, 2026 • 1 min read

The government has announced an increase in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, effective September 3. Petrol will now cost Rs346.16 per litre, up by Rs2.29, while high-speed diesel will retail for Rs372.03 after a Rs1.11 hike.

The adjustments follow a significant reduction from previous peaks, with HSD dropping from Rs520.35 in April and petrol from Rs458.41. This volatility correlates with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly the US-Iran tensions, which have led to fluctuations in international fuel prices.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik revealed that pricing will now be determined daily by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to better reflect these market trends. The government has been responding to fuel price changes since early March, implementing conservation measures and targeted relief initiatives for consumers.
