In response to escalating global oil prices, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a new relief initiative aimed at easing financial pressures on users of motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles. This announcement came on Sunday, highlighting the government's commitment to support citizens during these challenging economic times.

Details of the Relief Scheme

The special relief scheme will provide financial assistance by offering a reduction of Rs100 per litre for specific vehicle categories. Owners of two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws, will benefit from this relief on a monthly limit of 20 litres. Meanwhile, owners of small vehicles with engines up to 800cc will receive similar support on a monthly quota of 30 litres.

Implementation Timeline

The scheme is set to commence in Islamabad from midnight on September 15, with the rest of the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, beginning their relief from midnight on September 17. The Prime Minister's Office has already begun the registration process, which was initiated on the same day as the announcement, and further details will be disseminated to the public through an awareness campaign.
