Police Shooting in Luton: Man Injured After Knife Threat Incident

A police shooting in Luton on Tuesday afternoon has prompted an investigation after a man was injured while officers responded to a report of a woman being threatened with a knife.
At approximately 12:50 PM, Bedfordshire Police rushed to Cardigan Street, where armed response teams confronted a volatile situation inside a residence. During the encounter, shots were fired, leaving one man with injuries that were later assessed as non-life-threatening.
Alongside the man, a woman was also hospitalized with stab wounds related to the incident. Fortunately, her condition is not considered life-threatening either. The case has been handed over to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for a thorough investigation, as highlighted by Detective Chief Superintendent Zara Brown, who emphasized the police's swift action in addressing the threat.
