Poshmark Celebrates NYFW with Unique Dry Cleaner Activation

New York Fashion Week took an unexpected turn on Saturday night as Poshmark transformed a Canal Street storefront into a chic dry cleaner for an exclusive event celebrating style and self-expression. Hosted by Elizabeth von der Goltz, Poshmark’s Chief Revenue Officer, the evening marked the debut of the brand's public activation alongside the launch of their new 'Try Yourself On' campaign.
Upon entering the pop-up, guests were greeted by a nostalgic dry cleaning setup, complete with a working garment conveyor. Behind the scenes, a speakeasy-inspired cocktail lounge awaited, creating a vibrant atmosphere for fashion enthusiasts. The inspiration for this unique concept stemmed from the notion that people often reserve their most cherished items for professional cleaning—a fitting homage to the campaign's imagery. Campaign ambassadors, including Chloe Fineman and Jalil Johnson, showcased selected pieces from their personal collections, turning the event into a mini fashion showcase.
Among the highlights were stunning items like feather-trimmed Prada mules and a vintage Roberto Cavalli mini dress, which left attendees wishing they were up for sale. This initiative, crafted by Poshmark’s new Creative and Fashion Director Jaime Hunter, aims to encourage shoppers to explore various facets of their personal style. “We really want people to play with it and try on different things, like versions of themselves,” von der Goltz explained, emphasizing the campaign's focus on self-expression through fashion.
Looking ahead, Poshmark plans to capitalize on New York City’s fascination with celebrity closet sales, with their first in-person event featuring Fineman set for December. The comedian noted the unique charm of New York's closet sales, likening them to a local cultural phenomenon. Guests left the event with complimentary vintage men’s dress shirts, embodying the evening's spirit of glamour and style.
