Practical Magic 2 Casts a Spell with $46 Million Opening

By Editor • September 14, 2026 • 1 min read

The much-anticipated sequel, Practical Magic 2, has officially made its debut, enchanting audiences with a worldwide opening of $46 million. This figure includes a substantial $30 million from North America, where the star power of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman has proven irresistible to fans.

Despite its impressive North American earnings, the film's international performance fell short of expectations, raking in only $16 million across 77 foreign markets. Compared to other recent releases like Wuthering Heights, which grossed $42 million, and It Ends With Us, which took in $30 million, Practical Magic 2's overseas numbers reflect a mixed reception.

While the sequel might not have cast a financial spell as strong as anticipated, it achieved a notable feat by dethroning Spider-Man: Brand New Day from its lengthy reign at the domestic box office. The original Practical Magic, released in 1998, garnered a similar mixed reaction, and it seems history is repeating itself for its follow-up. Looking ahead, audiences can anticipate more genre films this September, including the much-debated Resident Evil and Dreamworks’ Forgotten Island.
