In a dramatic turn at the box office, Warner Bros.' fantasy sequel, Practical Magic 2, has cast a spell over audiences, earning $4.7 million during its Thursday previews. This impressive debut is poised to disrupt the six-week dominance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the top of the charts.

The sequel is projected to generate between $30 million and $40 million in its opening weekend and could rake in an additional $18 million to $25 million internationally. With these figures, Practical Magic 2 is set for a global opening between $48 million and $65 million, despite a production budget of $75 million.

Starring the beloved duo Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, the film revisits the lives of Sally and Gillian Owens, witches burdened by a curse that dooms their romantic relationships. Set 25 years after the original 1998 film, the sequel explores the sisters’ quest to break this generational curse, alongside Sally's daughters, portrayed by Joey King and Maisie Williams. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film's ensemble cast also features Stockhard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.

Meanwhile, Disney will introduce its music documentary, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, this weekend, which is expected to earn between $5 million and $7 million. The film chronicles the reunion of Oasis band members Liam and Noel Gallagher as they embark on a world tour for the first time since 2009.
