Queer Creativity Takes Center Stage at London Design Festival's New Pop-Up Library

During the ongoing London Design Festival, Alex Tieghi-Walker is making waves with the launch of a unique pop-up library, The Reading Room, dedicated to showcasing queer design and cultural history. Located at 36 Thurloe Place, this innovative space is part of the Brompton Design District, reflecting Tieghi-Walker's commitment to independent and emerging creative practices through its theme 'Perfectly Imperfect.'

As curator for the second consecutive year, Tieghi-Walker continues to emphasize authenticity in the design process. He has gathered an impressive lineup of contemporary artists and designers, including Isamaya French's Studio Iron and Kelly Wearstler, to celebrate the rich tapestry of experimentation and collaboration that defines creative endeavors today.

The Reading Room is envisioned as both a library and a community hub, providing a platform for queer voices in design. It features artwork and furniture from London-based queer artists, and an assortment of curated books sourced from Tenderbooks, a Soho-based bookstore. To mark the library's debut, Tieghi-Walker shared a selection of must-read titles that hold special significance for him, reflecting on the themes of identity and creativity.
