Rams Prepare for Australia Game with Tight Travel Schedule

By Editor • September 8, 2026 • 1 min read

The Los Angeles Rams are set to embark on a whirlwind trip to Australia for their upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers, but not without a race against time. With only one day to acclimate, the team's travel plans set them on a flight from Los Angeles just hours before their Friday morning kickoff in Melbourne.

Head coach Sean McVay revealed that the team will leave Los Angeles on Tuesday night, arriving in Australia approximately 24 hours before the game. The journey is a grueling 16-hour flight, compounded by a significant 17-hour time difference, meaning the Rams will touch down in Melbourne on Thursday morning, just a day before they face the 49ers at 10:35 a.m. local time.

In stark contrast, the 49ers have been in Melbourne for nearly a week, practicing and adjusting to the local environment. Despite this, McVay remains confident in the Rams' strategy, citing their successful experience in London last season where they managed a swift transition just before a game. To further mitigate the challenges of travel fatigue, all players will have access to lie-flat beds during the flight, an amenity aimed at ensuring they are as rested as possible for their international matchup.
