Russia has expressed strong disapproval of the upcoming U.S.-Japan-Australia military exercises, set to take place from September 8-24. The country delivered a formal protest to the Japanese Embassy in Moscow regarding the inclusion of U.S. Typhon missile launchers in the drills.
These exercises, known as Orient Shield, will see the advanced midrange missile system deployed for the first time in Japan, with capabilities to target areas up to 1,600 kilometers away. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the presence of such weapons in Japan is a direct threat to Russia’s security.
