Snoopy, the beloved Peanuts character, is making waves in the fashion world once again with the launch of "Snoopy in Style NYC," an exciting exhibition opening on September 2 in Manhattan's Meatpacking District. This innovative showcase, spanning 16,000 square feet, features a dynamic blend of archival fashion and fresh designer commissions that highlight Snoopy's lasting impact on various cultural spheres, including fashion, sports, and music.
Curated by The Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, the exhibit presents ten immersive zones, offering a timeline of Snoopy's stylistic evolution since the early 1980s. Renowned designers like BODE, Christopher John Rogers, and Coach have crafted new looks for Snoopy and his sidekick Woodstock, each injecting their unique flair into the character’s wardrobe.
Melissa Menta, SVP of global brand and communications at Peanuts, shares, "They all have a way of interpreting looks for him that display some semblance of their own taste, but give Snoopy the personality and style he deserves." This creative freedom for designers to reinterpret Snoopy showcases the character's adaptability and appeal across generations.
In addition to fashion displays, the exhibition features a tennis installation that celebrates Schulz’s connections to the sport and a music-themed lounge, commemorating Vince Guaraldi's iconic contributions. "Snoopy in Style NYC" runs until September 26 at 25 Little West 12th Street, underscoring how a character first drawn in 1950 continues to resonate with audiences today.
