Snowtown Killer James Vlassakis Granted Parole After Review

James Vlassakis, one of the infamous Snowtown serial killers, is set to be released on parole following a review that supported the initial decision made by South Australia’s Parole Board.

The Parole Administrative Review Commissioner concluded that the Attorney-General did not provide sufficient grounds to reverse the board’s earlier ruling, which was issued last year. This decision comes after the South Australian government had sought a review of Vlassakis’s potential release.

Vlassakis was the youngest member of the group responsible for the shocking ‘bodies in the barrels’ murders, which resulted in the deaths of twelve individuals from 1992 to 1999, marking one of Australia’s most gruesome crime sprees.
