Star-Studded Lineup Announced for Busan International Film Festival 2023

This year’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) promises to be a cinematic extravaganza, featuring an impressive array of both Korean and international talent. The festival, which runs from October 6 to 15, will host a variety of fan-oriented programs including Open Talk, Outdoor Stage Greeting, and Talk-to-Talk sessions, allowing attendees to engage with their favorite filmmakers and actors.

Exciting Open Talk Sessions

The Open Talk segment kicks off on October 7, showcasing the talents of acclaimed director Lee Chang-dong and stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong as they discuss their film “Possible Love.” This will be followed by other notable sessions, such as “Cattle Run” featuring director Kim Ji-hyun and his cast, and “The Table: Day and Night” with director Kim Jong-kwan and an ensemble of emerging stars.

On October 8, director Lee Hu-bin will present “Sapiens” alongside actors Jung Sung-il, You Chea-myung, and Ryu Hyunkyung, while “Dead-End Job” will see director Kim Da-min share the stage with Kim Min-ha and Choi Hyun-wook. The lineup continues with a diverse range of films and directors, culminating on October 13 when the legendary Isabelle Huppert and director Marc Fitoussi discuss their collaboration on “All About Corinne.”

Outdoor Stage Greetings Featuring Top Talent

Running from October 7 to 11, the Outdoor Stage Greeting segments will feature a multitude of filmmakers and actors. Highlights include Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung joining director Woo Min-ho for the much-anticipated “Made In Korea” Season 2 on October 7, alongside other notable titles like “The Assassin(s)” with director Hur Jin-ho.

Each day promises engaging interactions, with appearances from directors and stars of films such as “Dora,” “Final Interview,” and “Paradise Lost.” The final day will spotlight Italian cinema with directors Margherita Ferrari and Banjong Pisanthanakun, showcasing international collaboration in film.

Insightful Discussions in Talk-to-Talk

The Talk-to-Talk sessions, set to unfold at the Roof Theater and HANMAC Smooooth Lounge, offer a chance for deeper conversations about the industry. On October 10, a panel titled “Women Directors: Taking the Scene” will bring together a host of influential female filmmakers. Additionally, renowned director Majid Majidi will reflect on his career in a special session on October 9.

The festival will also feature several panels under the “Vision Korea” banner, connecting filmmakers and discussing new projects, while the program wraps up on October 13 with discussions on the evolution of comedy in Korean cinema.
