Superhuman, the email productivity platform, has made a strategic move by acquiring Fathom, a Y Combinator-backed notetaker, as it aims to enhance its suite of productivity tools. Fathom's Impressive Growth and User Base

Founded in 2020, Fathom has quickly made a name for itself in the notetaking sector, raising over $30 million in funding and achieving a valuation of $94 million in 2024. With backing from notable investors like the Zoom Apps Fund and individual tech leaders including Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, Fathom has attracted a user base of over 400,000 monthly active users, and has facilitated more than a million recorded meetings.

Superhuman's Strategic Acquisition Decision

Superhuman's CEO, Shishir Mehrotra, revealed that the company initially experimented with developing its own notetaking solution but ultimately recognized the complexities involved. “It greatly increased our confidence in the demand in this category,” Mehrotra stated, indicating the challenges they faced in creating a competitive product.
