Calendly Rebrands to Embrace AI, Moving Beyond Its Calendar Roots

By Editor • August 25, 2026 • 2 min read

Calendly, the popular meeting scheduling platform, is undergoing a significant rebranding effort aimed at redefining its identity in the evolving landscape of productivity tools. The company's fresh visual identity, developed by design studio Smith & Diction, includes a new logo, updated color palette, and a refined brand message that emphasizes its capabilities beyond traditional calendar functions.

With the rise of artificial intelligence, Calendly is determined to position itself as a comprehensive productivity suite rather than just a tool for scheduling meetings. The company has announced plans to introduce an AI email assistant and an AI-driven notetaker, enhancing its offerings to streamline the scheduling process and reduce administrative burdens. Jamal Miller, Calendly's VP of brand and product marketing, underscores the necessity for modern software to evolve, stating, "AI is changing the expectation for software." He highlights that users now seek tools that integrate seamlessly into their existing workflows while providing contextual understanding.

Calendly's rebranding comes at a time when many Software as a Service (SaaS) companies are facing similar challenges. As the market becomes saturated with productivity solutions, including those powered by AI, companies like Notion and Grammarly are also redefining their identities to resonate more with their users. Notion transformed from a website builder to an expansive AI workspace, while Grammarly rebranded itself as Superhuman to reflect its broader capabilities.

The new design aims to create a softer, more approachable visual language, moving away from the bold and vibrant identity established in 2021. The previous branding, characterized by neon colors and striking shapes, did not effectively communicate the broader scope of Calendly's offerings. Smith notes that while the old design was intended to be friendly, it often conveyed a narrow view of the platform's potential. The new identity focuses on simplicity and organic elements that embody Calendly's mission to "make space for what matters" in users' workdays.

This rebranding effort introduces a palette of pastel colors that evoke serene moments throughout the day—like morning sunlight or the subtle hues of a sunset. Smith's team also incorporated a unique visual motif called "gloop," which features flowing, organic shapes to connect various features like the email assistant and notetaker. The revised wordmark is designed to reflect the platform's role as an invisible connector in users' daily tasks, with flowing letters that symbolize seamless integration.

The most challenging aspect of the rebranding was creating a new logo that distanced itself from the traditional calendar symbolism while retaining the brand's name recognition. The design team explored numerous concepts before settling on a simplistic ripple effect surrounding a stylized 'C'. This new logo reflects the idea of connection and fluidity, essential to Calendly's evolving role in the productivity landscape.

As Calendly prepares to unveil its new brand identity and expanded features, it aims to reshape user perceptions and solidify its place in an increasingly AI-driven world.
