Tamil Nadu's CM Vijay to Launch Major Motor Race in the UK Featuring Actor Ajith

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to kick off the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the renowned Silverstone circuit in Northampton, U.K., on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at around 5 p.m. local time. This marks Mr. Vijay's inaugural international trip following the state assembly elections held in May 2026.

During his visit, the Chief Minister aims to engage with various industry leaders to discuss potential investments in Tamil Nadu. Notably, earlier this month, he revealed plans to develop a 'Motor Sports City' in Tamil Nadu, which would be capable of hosting prestigious Formula racing events, as well as an 'Olympic City' in Chennai to prepare athletes for future Olympic competitions.

Actor Ajith Kumar, who is set to compete in the Silverstone race, expressed gratitude towards Mr. Vijay for his presence, highlighting the significance of the event. Ajith, driving for his team Ajith RedAnt by Virage in the LMP3 Pro/Am category alongside French driver Romain Vozniak, shared his aspirations for India to host similar motorsport events, stating that the Chief Minister’s visit could provide valuable insights into what is needed for Chennai to host such prestigious competitions.
