A devastating bus accident on Fogo Island, Cabo Verde, has resulted in the tragic loss of at least 25 lives, predominantly children and teenagers, according to reports from public radio network RCV.

The incident occurred on Saturday and left several others injured, with some victims suffering severe injuries. Jose Canuto, the head of civil protection for Sao Filipe city, provided updates to the media regarding the event.

Authorities noted that such accidents are uncommon in Cabo Verde, where the road conditions are generally considered safe. The bus was transporting 32 passengers when it veered off its path, leading to the catastrophic outcome.
