True Colours Takes on Ginevra Elkann's Intimate Drama 'The Roses of Marrakesh'

Italian director Ginevra Elkann's new film, 'The Roses of Marrakesh,' has secured international sales representation from the Rome-based company True Colours. The film features the esteemed actress Fanny Ardant in the role of Madame Isabelle, an elderly matron residing in a lavish estate in Marrakech.

Set against the backdrop of the famed Agnelli estate, Aïn Kassimou, the narrative centers on Leila, a dedicated housekeeper who meticulously maintains the harmonious environment of the estate. However, the arrival of her sister, bringing a troubling secret, disrupts this fragile balance, revealing the complexities of their past. The cast also includes Nisrin Erradi, Ahmed Hammoud, Jalila Talemsi, and Boubker Fahmi.

Elkann, who is recognized for her previous works like 'Magari' and 'I Told You So,' describes 'The Roses of Marrakesh' as a deeply personal exploration of love and resilience. 'It’s about the ordinary business of surviving our own pain, and about the tenderness we find along the way,' she stated. True Colours’ managing director, Elliot Gustin-Hollman, praised the film, emphasizing its poetic nature and the profound friendship it portrays between its female leads.
