Highlighting the importance of the upcoming midterm elections, Trump noted, "We have to get through the midterms first," as the Republican Party aims to retain its congressional majority this November.

Meanwhile, Hegseth, a veteran and former Fox News host, has labeled the 2028 campaign rumors as "100% false" on social media. Trump also hinted at other potential candidates, saying, "I’ll bet there’s a lot of people considering it that you don’t know about," while emphasizing Hegseth's current focus on military matters.
