Turning Point USA Expands Amid Young Voter Discontent with Trump

One year following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, a pivotal figure in the right-wing movement, his organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA) is seeing significant growth even as young voters express increasing dissatisfaction with the Republican Party. As of now, TPUSA has established over 3,500 high school chapters, marking a staggering 180 percent increase since Kirk's untimely death last September. Additionally, the organization has more than 1,500 college chapters, reflecting a growth of over 60 percent.

Kirk, known for his close ties to former President Donald Trump, was killed on September 10, 2025, during a speech at Utah Valley University. His assassination prompted a crackdown by the Trump administration on perceived domestic threats, notably targeting groups like Antifa. Despite TPUSA's expansion as a key player in mobilizing young conservatives, a recent poll indicates that only 32 percent of young men aged 18 to 29 approve of Trump's performance, a significant decline from 43 percent earlier this year.

Economic issues loom large for this demographic, with half of Americans aged 18 to 29 reporting that inflation has impacted them significantly. The ongoing conflict in Iran has further exacerbated financial strains, adding an estimated $750 to household expenses. Within TPUSA, opinions regarding U.S. support for Israel are also shifting, with only 16 percent of young individuals backing military action in Iran. Nevertheless, TPUSA's expanding network may provide Republicans with a vital opportunity to engage younger voters as the November midterm elections approach.
