Two Australians Safe Amid Nepal-Tibet Flood Crisis

By Editor • September 3, 2026 • 1 min read

In a positive development amid the ongoing crisis in Nepal and Tibet, two Australians previously unaccounted for have been confirmed safe. This brings the total number of Australians still uncontacted down to 36.

According to reports from the ABC, the two citizens have been located and are reported to be in good health, requiring no consular assistance. Their safe return comes as a relief as the region grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods that have claimed over 1,200 lives and left more than 5,500 individuals missing.

To aid in the recovery efforts, a 15-member Australian Disaster Assistance Response Team is set to arrive in Kathmandu later today, with an additional group of seven Australian Federal Police disaster victim identification specialists expected on Saturday.
