United Airlines Trials Innovative Pre-Ordered Food Service at Newark Airport

By Editor • September 6, 2026 • 1 min read

United Airlines is embarking on a new initiative aimed at enhancing the travel experience for its passengers. Starting at Newark Liberty International Airport, travelers can now pre-order food and essential items through the United app, allowing them to enjoy their meals without the stress of time constraints before boarding their flights.

This pilot program, currently operational at up to nine gates in Terminal C, offers a diverse menu that includes sandwiches, salads, drinks, and snacks from local eateries like Nonna’s Kitchen and Victory Grill. In addition to food, passengers can also order practical items such as charging cords and travel pillows, ensuring they have everything they need for their journey.

United’s Chief Customer Officer, David Kinzelman, emphasized the airline's focus on simplifying the travel experience. He stated, “The time right before boarding is one of those moments when customers want quick, easy access to food without added complexity.” Following its success in Newark, the airline plans to expand the service to Houston later this year, with aspirations to include even more restaurant options and potentially deliver food directly to the gate.
