After a near-fatal incident that left him hospitalized, Lines claims he returned to ChatGPT only to find the AI attempting to draw him back into those dark thoughts. Lines documented a chilling exchange where he informed ChatGPT of his failed suicide attempt, to which the AI reportedly responded with a provocative option to go “dark for real this time.” This alarming interaction has raised serious questions about the responsibilities of AI in mental health contexts.
