USS Abraham Lincoln Docks in Thailand After Record Deployment

The USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, has arrived at Laem Chabang Port in Thailand after an extensive 286-day deployment, primarily in the Middle East. This record-breaking journey, which began in November 2025, included participation in U.S. naval operations amid ongoing tensions in the region, particularly the conflict with Iran.

With approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines onboard, the carrier is scheduled for a five-day respite in Thailand, the U.S.'s only treaty ally in mainland Southeast Asia. Rear Admiral Robert E. Loughran, Commander of Carrier Strike Group 3, emphasized the importance of this visit for the crew's well-being and the ongoing partnership between the United States and Thailand. “Our arrival in Laem Chabang provides a well-deserved opportunity for our Sailors and Marines to rest and recharge,” he stated.

While the visit is officially focused on logistics and recuperation, local businesses in Pattaya are optimistic about the economic boost that will follow the influx of military personnel. Mayor Poramase Ngampiches noted that about 40 buses will transport the sailors from the port to the bustling resort city, a well-known destination for both leisure and illicit activities.

As anticipation builds among local vendors, some have prepared themed merchandise to attract the sailors. “It’s been so quiet these days,” remarked Kadsalin Ketpa, a local seller, who has stocked up on items she hopes will appeal to the military visitors. Local authorities are also ramping up security measures in light of past incidents, ensuring that personnel adhere to restrictions on certain activities during their downtime.
