From seeds to the smallest organisms on the planet, inspiration for porcelain sculptures in Shiyuan XU (anterior) has its origin in biology. Fascinated by the patterns, shapes and constructions of all kinds of creatures, the artist creates advanced cell interpretations, the important constructing blocks of all types of life.
Working meticulously with porcelain paper a mix of clay fibers and cellulose-and glaze, Xu carve for shapes, amorphous, as if prolonged and contract.
