Dalí's Surreal Vision Revived with AI Technology

Salvador Dalí’s ambitious yet unrealized film project, Giraffes on Horseback Salad, has undergone a stunning revival thanks to cutting-edge AI technology. Once deemed too unconventional for 1930s cinema, the concept has been reimagined using Google’s Veo 2 video model in a collaboration with Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Florida's Dalí Museum.

Originally conceived as a surreal spectacle, the film tells the story of a man who falls for a woman from a dreamlike realm, where the boundaries between fantasy and reality dissolve. Despite the vibrant sketches and fragments of a script Dalí left behind, the project was shelved due to its perceived impracticality.

Now, with the advancement of generative video tools, the team has crafted an animated interpretation that captures the essence of Dalí’s unique visual style. Jeff Goodby, co-chairman of Goodby Silverstein & Partners, remarked on the excitement of realizing such an unconventional vision in modern terms, calling it one of their most creatively exhilarating projects.

The film was introduced at Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas on April 9, marking another innovative step in the ongoing partnership between The Dalí Museum and the creative agency, which has previously explored AI-driven art initiatives.
