A Dream Wedding in Tuscany: Jewelry Designer Rene Barnes Dazzles with Custom Creations

In a stunning display of creativity and love, jewelry designer Rene Barnes transformed her Tuscan wedding into a showcase of custom creations, reflecting her unique style and vision. Barnes and real estate broker Christian DiCroce's journey began on October 6, 2022, during their first date at Bar 167, where a spark ignited between them. 'It was the best first date I had ever had,' Rene recalls, echoing Christian’s sentiment that he knew she was 'everything I had been waiting for.'

Fast forward to May 8, 2025, Christian proposed in Charleston, South Carolina, at Chalmers Street, a location that resonated with their love for places rich in history. 'It just felt like us,' said Christian, describing the moment he got down on one knee. The couple celebrated their engagement with an intimate surprise gathering of friends and family, marking the beginning of their wedding planning journey.

One year later, the couple exchanged vows on May 8, 2026, at the enchanting Castello di Celsa in Italy. Surrounded by a small group of loved ones, they envisioned their wedding as a memorable experience rather than just a ceremony. 'We wanted the weekend to feel like an experience,' said Rene. Their laid-back approach to planning was complemented by the expertise of wedding planner Fabiana Vernetti, who helped them realize their vision.

Rene, known for her exquisite jewelry designs, took her creative pursuits a step further by designing all of her wedding attire. 'The moment we got engaged, I knew I wanted to design everything I wore,' she stated, showcasing her passion for haute couture textiles. Collaborating with fabric expert Alice from Mendel Goldberg Fabrics, she hand-draped pieces that would later be beautifully crafted by couture dressmaker Mary Funt.

Each outfit was thoughtfully designed to represent different moments of the wedding weekend. From a cream dress for the welcome dinner made of deadstock Italian silk, to a stunning floral Oscar de la Renta creation for the evening celebration, Rene’s wardrobe was a true masterpiece. For the main ceremony, she donned a breathtaking gown made from Italian silk jacquard, complemented by a cape, and finished the night in a chic Armani sheath dress.

Rene’s artistic flair extended to her jewelry, with each piece meticulously crafted to harmonize with her outfits. 'Every piece was designed and made specifically for the look it accompanied,' she noted, emphasizing her commitment to creating a cohesive aesthetic for the event. Christian also embraced bespoke elegance, commissioning a double-breasted tuxedo from Casa dei Tessuti in Florence, exemplifying the couple's dedication to craftsmanship.

The wedding weekend began at the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena with a welcome dinner in a frescoed ballroom that felt like a step back in time. The couple's ceremony followed in the gardens of Castello di Celsa, where Rene walked down the aisle to a personalized rendition of 'Con Te Partirò,' a song that holds special meaning for them. The emotional ceremony, officiated by Rene's father, was filled with heartfelt moments, culminating in a magical sight as a rainbow appeared after they exchanged vows.

After the ceremony, guests joined the couple for a lively cocktail hour, filled with laughter and dancing, before the reception in the castle's inner courtyard, adorned with red florals and candlelight. The evening featured a locally inspired menu, celebrating both their love and the beauty of Tuscany.
