A Tranquil Escape: My Lakeside Lodge Experience

This summer, I discovered a newfound appreciation for lakeside retreats, a shift from my usual preference for seaside getaways. After spending two serene nights at Lake Como, where I was captivated by the tranquil waters and verdant mountains, I decided it was time for a lakeside escape. The Sanctuary at Lakes By Yoo in the Cotswolds caught my eye, promising both relaxation and adventure.

On arrival, the ambiance was surprisingly peaceful despite the busy holiday season. Nestled in one of England's most sought-after counties, the lodge's serene environment was a refreshing change. The Sanctuary, a two-storey lodge, and its newly constructed three-bedroom apartments offered the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. Although I was with a lively group that included two toddlers and five adults, the spacious accommodation allowed us to enjoy our stay without feeling cramped.

The lodge was equipped with all the essentials, from a well-stocked kitchenette to plush bathrooms adorned with Wildsmith toiletries. Large windows illuminated the richly decorated interiors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I could already envision cozy autumn evenings by the fire, sipping red wine as raindrops pattered against the deck.

Summer days, however, were filled with activities. Lakes By Yoo offered an array of water sports, including windsurfing and kayaking, while child-friendly events like a teddy bear hunt kept the little ones entertained. Biking through the scenic woodlands and around the lakes provided opportunities to spot local wildlife, such as herons and dragonflies. The on-site spa, featuring a heated indoor pool, was an oasis where I indulged in a rejuvenating full-body massage.

Each morning began blissfully on the lodge's veranda, coffee in hand, as I was greeted by the charming puddle ducks that frequented the area. Breakfast was a delightful affair, featuring local yogurt and fresh blackberries we had picked ourselves. As the sun set, we enjoyed leisurely evenings filled with laughter and snacks, with the children splashing in the shallow waters before drifting off to sleep, content after a day of lakeside adventures.
