Situational Awareness, the AI-centric hedge fund once hailed as Wall Street’s next big thing, is now under federal investigation following a significant downturn in the AI market.

Led by young entrepreneur Leopold Aschenbrenner, the firm experienced a meteoric rise but saw billions wiped off its value by late July.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is reportedly subpoenaing banks linked to the fund, urging them to retain any related information. Although under investigation, Situational Awareness has not been charged with wrongdoing and has pledged full cooperation with regulators.
