Biopic Series ‘Deacon’ on Zak Santiago in Development

Actor and former boxer Zak Santiago's inspiring journey will be the focus of a new biopic TV series titled ‘Deacon,’ set to be showcased at the Toronto Film Festival's inaugural Content Market.

Front Street Pictures, in partnership with Blink49 Studios, has secured the life story rights and enlisted Jonathan Lloyd Walker, known for his work on ‘Van Helsing,’ to serve as showrunner and producer. Santiago, who has appeared in series such as Netflix's ‘Virgin River’ and HBO's ‘Peacemaker,’ will also play a role in production alongside John Cassini.

‘Deacon’ tells the story of Santiago ‘Santi’ Luna, a former street criminal turned Catholic deacon, exploring themes of redemption across diverse settings, including a church, prison, and a nightclub DJ booth. Santiago emphasizes the series' core message of support and hope for those feeling forgotten.
