Brydon Carse Exits England Squad Amid Investigation

Pace bowler Brydon Carse has been dropped from England's squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan following a nightclub incident that prompted police involvement. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Carse, 31, will not be available for selection as an investigation unfolds.

Images surfaced on social media showing Carse in handcuffs outside a bar in Derby, although reports indicate he was not arrested. The ECB stated that they have referred the matter to the Cricket Regulator for further examination. As a result, Carse has been replaced in the squad by Sonny Baker.

This incident marks the third disciplinary issue for England players this summer. Carse had been part of the squad during the first Test against Pakistan, which England won decisively. Following that match, he played for Durham in a successful game against Derbyshire before being filmed in the incident that led to his exclusion.

The footage captured Carse alongside his Durham teammate Matthew Potts, with former England captain Ben Stokes visible in the background. Stokes and another player, Gus Atkinson, were previously involved in a nightclub incident in London that led to both missing a Test match while under investigation.

England's new captain, Joe Root, has emphasized the need for players to serve as positive role models, acknowledging past missteps among the team. As for Carse, his recent performances have been noteworthy, with 58 Test wickets since his debut in October 2024, making him one of England's most effective bowlers.
