CNN has publicly apologized after mistakenly airing a photograph of a Dolly Parton impersonator, Kelly Vohnn, during a segment honoring the late country music icon.
The error occurred on the program "Laura Coates Live" on August 25, coinciding with the announcement of Parton's passing at 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Instead of displaying images of Parton, the network showcased Vohnn, a performer who has portrayed the legendary singer.
In a statement, CNN expressed regret over the mix-up, stating, "We regret the error and apologize to the Parton family." Vohnn, responding to the incident, mentioned feeling heartbroken over Parton's death and described the situation as surreal, noting she received numerous messages from friends about her unexpected appearance on national television.
