Cricket Legends Call for Care for Imran Khan Amid Legal Struggles

In a heartfelt appeal, former Australian cricket captain Greg Chappell, alongside 20 other international cricket legends, has urged the Pakistani government to ensure proper medical care for Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and cricket captain.
Six months after an initial plea for humane treatment, the group has returned to voice their concerns over Khan's current health predicament. Following a Supreme Court ruling, Khan was briefly transferred to a hospital for evaluation by a medical board that included his personal doctors and his sister, Dr. Uzma Khan. However, this intervention was alarmingly short-lived; he was sent back to Adiala Jail after just a few hours, examined by a state-appointed team instead of the mandated board.
The cricket captains emphasized that their request stems from a desire for decency rather than political motivations. They stressed the importance of allowing Khan's own medical team to conduct a thorough assessment, particularly regarding his reported vision issues. Additionally, they insisted that the court's order for weekly family visits be respected and that any recommended treatment be provided without delay.
At 73 years old, Khan has spent over three years in custody. The cricketing community hopes for a swift resolution to ensure that he receives the care he deserves.
