DR Congo Braces for Escalating Ebola Crisis with New Vaccine Supply

By Editor • August 22, 2026 • 1 min read

The Democratic Republic of Congo is intensifying its battle against a severe Ebola outbreak, having just received over 16,000 doses of a vaccine aimed at curbing the virus's spread.

With more than 2,500 fatalities reported, health officials from the World Health Organization are sounding alarms that this outbreak may eclipse the catastrophic epidemic from 2014 to 2016, which claimed over 11,000 lives in West Africa.

Dr. Muhammad Munir, a virology expert from Lancaster University in the UK, provides insight into the current situation and the urgent need for intervention.
