Erin Patterson Appeals Murder Conviction Amid Prosecutors' Sentencing Push

By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read

Erin Patterson, convicted of triple murder, is seeking to overturn her conviction in the Court of Appeal, with proceedings now in their second day. Her legal team, led by barristers Richard Edney and Veronika Drago, highlighted a significant mishap during the trial: jurors were housed in the same Morwell hotel as a police informant and prosecution solicitors, a situation they labeled a "catastrophic" error that risked jury integrity.

Conversely, the Office of Public Prosecutions dismissed this claim as "far-fetched". In addition to responding to Patterson's appeal, the OPP is also pursuing a harsher sentence that would eliminate her parole eligibility.
