Three former engineers from SpaceX have embarked on a new venture, pivoting from rocket technology to steel manufacturing. Their startup, 1872, aims to create a prototype factory by 2027 that leverages AI and robotics to automate steel fabrication.
Officially launched on July 22 in Cincinnati, 1872 will initially focus on producing steel skids, essential for modular buildings, as it caters to clients in AI data centers and nuclear projects.
