Fairphone 6+: A Sustainable Choice for the Conscious Consumer

By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read

The Fairphone 6+ has arrived, presenting a compelling option for those who value sustainability without sacrificing smartphone functionality. With an upgraded Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and 12GB of memory, this model offers impressive performance while standing out due to its ethical manufacturing practices.

The phone's aesthetics have also received a refresh, showcasing a striking Cobalt Blue finish. However, while its camera system—a 50MP main camera, a 32MP front camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens—produces decent images, it doesn’t quite match the quality of dedicated camera-centric devices, such as the Leica Leitzphone.

In terms of build quality, the Fairphone feels less premium than many metallic competitors, largely due to its construction from over 50% fair and recycled materials. This focus on ethical sourcing is part of Fairphone’s commitment to enhancing working conditions in cobalt mines through partnerships like the Fair Cobalt Alliance.

Repairability is another highlight of the FP6+, which includes 12 user-repairable parts, making maintenance straightforward with just a screwdriver. Fairphone also offers a range of spare parts, emphasizing their dedication to sustainability and longevity—qualities that align well with the emerging Right-to-Repair movement.

This mid-range Android smartphone is competitively priced at £569 / $649 and is designed to last, with Fairphone estimating software support through 2033. As the company prepares to introduce its Fairbuds 2 later this year, it's clear that Fairphone is committed to innovation in a manner that remains true to its ethical values, making it an appealing choice for conscious consumers.
