Free Home Testing Kits Introduced by NHS to Combat Cervical Cancer

By Editor • August 25, 2026 • 1 min read

The NHS is launching a significant initiative aimed at addressing the alarming number of women who have missed cervical cancer screenings. Starting soon, eligible women across England will be able to access free home testing kits, a measure designed to increase participation in vital health checks.

This decision comes as part of the NHS's broader goal to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040. Currently, approximately 4 million women are behind on their screenings, with only two-thirds attending their in-person appointments.
